Bob the Builder was first created in the late 1980's by British artist Keith Chapman. He got the idea for animating construction vehicles after viewing a Scoop-like digger on a building site one day. Other machines followed, and Keith created Bob the Builder to run them. For years, Keith told his children bedtime stories featuring Bob the Builder and his crew.
In 1996, HIT Entertainment began working on the project. After three years and some tweaking, Bob the Builder premiered on BBC in April 1999, becoming an instant success. The show debuted on Nick Jr. and Noggin in the United States in 2001. |
